A SUGGESTED DRIVE ...

Adelaide to Victor Harbor

Leave Adelaide via Main South Road. The freeway goes South after 1.30p Mon-Fri or before 12.30pm on Sat. When you are approaching McLaren Vale – take the turn into town and go to the information centre in this area. There are many restaurants and shops in the main street and also food trail maps available from the information centre.

Take the road to Willunga a lovely town which has many historic buildings and a well known food and local products market on Saturday morning. The next stops we suggest is Mt Compass. There is a trout farm nearby. Also Agon is situated just before Mt Compass and sells strawberries and seasonal berries, jams etc.

Wineries to see near Victor are Mt Jagged and Parri Estates, which has beautiful rural views and Alexandrina cheese tastings and dairy products, pick some up to take back to the apartment to accompany your wine.

Victor Harbor to Adelaide

Leaving Victor go via the Hindmarsh Valley Road. This is a picturesque drive via Sellicks hill. The Victory Hotel is a good spot to have lunch with a great view over the gulf. You will join the Main South road again, however there are other beaches you could visit on the way back to Adelaide.

Stop for lunch at Port Willunga, with the famous Star of Greece restaurant overlooking the beach. Port Noarlunga is also quaint closer to Adelaide again follow the signs from the Main south Road, with marine park and great views.

The alternative way back is the Inman Valley Road to Yankalilla and is a longer route again taking you to Sellicks Hill, a beautiful drive. You can stop on the way to at Glacier Rock Tea House where there is a glacial striation from ancient times of the geographical formation of the area. This also relates to Granite Island which was formed at the same time.
